During the day...

The day light stretching into days...

Those sticks are to mark an edge in the snow so that you do not drive or fall off it...

Yesterday Blake took a small band of us out onto an area called the Ice falls. Where the snow and ice flows off the mainland onto the ice shelf and then subsequently cracks both vertically and horizontally causing crevasses of varying size. I mastered the use of crampons for the first time and they are magic, no slipping and you can stand on the slopped ice with ease....as long as you don't make any sudden moves, because you are tied to the next person....It was a fantastic break away from base and just what we all needed as we were a little flat and had cabin fever. We returned after enjoying the physical exercise and cold covered in ice like white mascara and we were all happier for it.
